I had heard some tidbits of info about this, but the new Birmingham Weekly has some details–Bare Hands Gallery is hosting art classes in its new next-door annex. And not just any art classes, but Day of the Dead altar-making classes!

The first class is Tuesday the 19th, with a follow-up session on Thursday the 21st. Another set begins Sept. 8. You’ll get some materials, including a box, art supplies, and a sugar skull, that you can transform into a memorial for the gallery’s always spectacular Dia de los Muertos event in November. How fun would that be?

The news brief mentioned that they’ll have a schedule of other classes, too, including papier-mache and jewelry, that’s going to be posted on the gallery’s Web site.
