100.5 Is Alive August 15, 2008

We got a new radio station today (“Live 100.5, Birmingham’s Modern Music”), and I’m enjoying it so far. It’s sort of like a nonstop Reg’s Coffee House–which is a great thing; I’ve wanted all-Reg radio for quite a while–with some ’90s songs thrown in. Or perhaps a sharper, not-so-heavy version of the X. It seems like a station you can leave on for a while, with a lot of variety and a guarantee that you’re going to hear some interesting songs you haven’t heard before. In fact, I’m starting to scribble down song titles, like I do when I listen to Reg.

I sure hope this one lasts. Radio conglomerates are notoriously fickle, so if you like what you hear, let someone–Reg, the station, the Internet, whoever–know. Dave Rossi, who was behind the X in its glory days, when it was known nationally for introducing new performers, is programming this new station, so that’s a good sign. Now if they’d just sprinkle some local bands into the playlist–oh yeah, and get a stronger signal. There’s no reason that I should have nonstop static cluttering up this station when I live in the city it calls home!
