Black & White & Red & Blue June 29, 2008

I got a surprise Thursday when I went to pick up a copy of Black & White and discovered one of my pieces on the cover! If you haven’t seen it yet, get a preview at the Black & White Web site.

That piece, titled “Cold Comfort,” is a favorite of mine. I made it last year, and it’s hanging (and available for purchase) at Naked Art. The “Polarized” print is based on a painted sign on the side of a laundry in Ensley, and the “It’s Cool Inside” print is inspired by a part of the Alabama Theater marquee that I saw in an old photo. Together they make me think of ice cream and air conditioning–so it’s no wonder they put it on a cover for July!
