I’m finishing up a few new pieces to take in to Naked Art–I wasn’t actually planning to do that this month, since the gallery has a good selection of my art right now, but a few ideas jumped into my head and wouldn’t leave, so I had to run with them. You can see two of the results on my Flickr page.

I seem to be working more words and type into my one-of-a-kind pieces lately. It’s no surprise that I love text, since I am an editor/writer in my day job, but it seems to add a whole new dimension to the images. The Vulcan piece on the Flickr page will launch a whole alphabet series–and I’ve got even grander text-and-print mashups in mind for the future. Like I said in the text attached to the Vulcan image, actual letterpress blocks are expensive and hard to find, so I’ve been buying rubber and foam alphabet stamps. I gravitate toward interesting fonts that have the same mixed vintage/modern feel as my prints, and now I’m developing quite a little collection of them. It’s almost like those letterpress printers who have drawers full of different fonts–but I do have to keep myself from getting carried away and buying more alphabets than I would ever need!
