Must-Do List August 5, 2007

Posted by cbuchanan in Uncategorized.

August is already packed with things to do–and this is usually one of the slower months! Anyway, here are the cool things on the radar:

August 9 (this Thursday)–Artwalk Preamble

Don’t miss this one–art, food, music, fun people, unique setting, and your first look at what’s in store for this year’s Artwalk. Think of it as Art on the Rocks, but without the 2,000 people smothering you. :) Plus your $25 entry fee helps fund Artwalk, so you’re supporting downtown revitalization as well. For details, visit Artwalk’s Web site.

August 15–Readings at Rojo

Be sure to check this one out. Local authors join a Chicago author and musical duo to present “Sea Shanties for the American South.” This is not going to be one of those hoity-toity, above-your-head type readings. It’ll be fun and cool, I promise. For info, visit The2ndhand events page. (And don’t miss the cool poster there too.)

August 25–Art of Dixie Opening at Naked Art

I described this event a couple of posts ago, and you’ll find more info on Naked Art’s Web site. I’ve been working especially hard on pieces for this one, and I think you’re going to like them. Hopefully I’ll see you there!

August 29–The Terminal Launch Party

Hopefully you’re already checking out this great new B’ham info/news site–but whether you’re a regular reader or first-timer, stop by this coming week so that you can vote for a nonprofit charity. The organization receiving the most votes will get star billing during the launch party, which will raise awareness–and hopefully money–for it.

Plus the barbecue festival at Sloss Furnaces has sneaked up on us again. It’s August 24 and 25.
