Let’s Rock June 18, 2007

Art on the Rocks returns for 2007 this Friday. And just like in the past two wildly successful years of this event, you’ll find tasty food, music, a cash bar, art activities, supreme peoplewatching, and–oh yeah–great artwork.

The main differences this year are that there are only four events–and it seems that tickets may be available *only* in advance and not at the door. (That has sounded pretty definite in media coverage, but the museum’s Web site doesn’t say it that strongly.) Prices are also higher this year: $10 for museum members and $20 for the general public. Click the Art on the Rocks link above for full details, including info on parking, ticket-stub discounts, and the after party.

Mindy Smith is the musical act this week. I know nothing about her, but if Reg is still finding the musicians for this event, she’s probably very good. He’s got good taste.

I’m planning to actually look at some art this Friday. I want to check out the new Japanese calligraphy exhibit and the “Sea Fever” show. Plus the museum is chock full of Alabama artists and Alabama scenes thanks to the Year of Alabama Arts.

Hopefully I’ll see you–or bump into you, considering the likely multitudes!
