One of my fellow Naked Artists, M. Blue Horn, has brought up a good point: In Birmingham, there’s only one person who critiques art regularly and publicly–the art critic for the Birmingham News. (I realize that Black & White and Birmingham Weekly both do art reviews, but not with any regularity.) She encourages more of us to offer our opinions of the shows, festivals, and events occurring around town. And she’s getting the ball rolling with a new series of podcasts that–so far–have touched on Artwalk, a show at Naked Art, and the East Atlanta Village Strut. Take a listen and tell her what you think.

I think she’s onto something here, and I plan to start posting more art reviews–and possibly previews–on this blog. It shouldn’t be too tough with the plethora of events and openings in the coming months. I hope you’ll comment–and offer your own opinions about art in B’ham.
