B’ham in the New York Times December 15, 2006

Read the article about Birmingham food in today’s New York Times.

It’s finally out! A few months ago the reporter contacted me before she came to the city, and I spammed her with Web links and suggestions for cool B’ham stuff, hung out with her a bit when she was here, and got her into an iron pour at Sloss Furnaces. It was a lot of fun showing off the city, and it seems from the article that she and her friend enjoyed their visit. That kind of press is certainly going to attract attention to B’ham from around the country.

Now I’m craving croissants from Continental and a slice of pie from Johnny Ray’s. :)

It was a very satisfying article. I’m glad you got a chance to help out. When she comes back for that Johnny Ray’s pie, I recommend steering her instead to a BBQ plate and pie at Demitri’s in Homewood — or a sandwich plate and carrot cake from Full Moon’s southside location.
